Missing Friends

Well, this across-the-world move has been fairly easy on my girls because they have each other to play with and really, they are best little friends.   But, Sarah’s other little best friend is Diana Graves.  They were in school with each other last year and Diana’s mommy is one of my good friends in Minnesota.   Last night I heard Sarah sniffling in bed and so I crawled underneath the covers with her and asked her what was wrong.  Well, her little sniffling turned into deep sobs and she finally told me she misses Diana.  I felt like breaking down and crying along with my angel girl.   It was 11:15 pm here but 3 pm in MN so I got our computer and used Skype and we called the Graves house.  Diana was taking a nap but her sister woke her up and Sarah and her were able to talk.  My little girl fell asleep happy last night.   I know as an adult it is hard to say goodbye to friends and sometimes I forget that it is just as hard for little people, too.   Here are some pictures of Sarah and Diana from this last year.  The first one is of the girls last Christmas Day.  The second one is taken of the girls one day last winter when Diana got to spend the day with us.  The third one was taken at the Mall of America for Sarah and Sophia’s birthday.  The fourth one is the Sunday before we came to Estonia.

Hi Heather! I enjoyed reading your site. So you answered on of my questions, still haven’t got your container yet. Hopefully soon huh? It is cold and snowy here also. You must be quite a bit further north to have such short days, I thought they were bad enough here. Is this the best place to write to you? I’m new about this blog stuff, just know about email. Didn’t know how private this was. Let me know the best way to keep in contact with you. I’m glad things are going well so far. I pray for you guys daily and I like these sites to keep up with you! Take care and stay warm. Your friend, Sharon

  3. how sweet that Sarah got to talk to her friend. Isn’t Skype just great! She must love very deeply. My boys are at this stage very quick to make friends…but none are close friends. I’m happy her Mommy fixed her saddness!
    Love
    Amy

    Dear Heather,
Elizabeth gave me your blog address, and after reading the sweet story about the girls and seeing their adorable pictures, I just wanted to write and let you know that I am praying for the Gilley family. You are a friend who is dearly missed as well. I’ll hold a coffee date for your furlough in MN. Caribou, here we come!
    Love,
    Francie
