An unusual visit …

On Thursday a Chinese man that has been visiting our church called my husband and asked if our family could meet him and his wife at 1 pm on Sunday so they could take us out.   My husband assumed that they wanted to take us out for lunch before our 5 pm church service.  So, I got us all ready with church in mind and we met this couple at the address Wang gave us.  His wife’s name is Helen – obviously an American name she gave herself.  They led us into a dingy building and up a few floors.  We walked into a pool house!    There were about 20 or more pool tables with low lit lights and lots of couches.  I felt so badly because I didn’t feed the kids and they were already hungry!   So, Wang pays for Bob and him to play pool and I sat and talked with Helen for about 3 hours.   We were the only ones there for a long time.   Helen’s English isn’t the best but we were able to communicate quite well.  She adores our girls – especially Sophia.  She says that because there is a one-child law there in China, she grew up very lonely.  She said she had school but her mom and dad worked so much and the only company she had was the television.   Her and her husband Wang have not accepted Christ yet.   I really enjoyed talking with Helen.  She had a small laptop with her and my kids spent the afternoon watching Tom and Jerry when they weren’t running around … and my husband got to play pool.  : )
